La pair-aidance offre une grande variété de bénéfices. Ces avantages sont confirmés et expliqués par des enquêtes et des études qualitatives et quantitatives scientifiques.

Dans l'ensemble, les études ont montré que la pair-aidance :

  • Diminue les taux de morbidité et de mortalité

  • Augmente l'espérance de vie

  • Accroît les connaissances sur une maladie

  • Améliore l'auto-efficacité

  • Améliore l'état de santé et les compétences en matière de soins personnels, y compris l'adhésion aux traitements

  • Réduit le recours aux services d'urgence
     

En outre, les gens utilisant des services de pair-aidance font état d'une diminution de la dépression, d'une augmentation de l'estime de soi et de l'efficacité personnelle, et d'une amélioration de la qualité de vie.
